This tragedy has touched me and is inspiring me to take action in my own community. As a gay male raised in the Bible belt I have seen first hand the hurt that comes from ignorance regarding gays. I hope I can help make a difference by communicating truth to those around me. You all are in my prayers.

First off I want to send my thoughts and prayers to Larry's family. I believe in being who you are and being yourself and if people think it is right to go and murder innocent people for what they believe then America along with the rest of the world needs a reality check. I first read this article about 3 days ago and I completely felt grief the moment I started reading. I first came upon this article when I was searching for an article for essay writing. I chose the topic a Voice for the Unheard. I wish I read it sooner I am going to post my paper about Larry on my blog so everyone can know how remarkable he was. I don't believe Larry should be seen as a poster child but I do believe he deserves attention because he is just a story he IS a person who was murdered for what he believed in.

i am very sorry to hear about wat happened to lawrence and hope his family is doing alright.. i also want to say that it wont always b that way.. things are changing.. i live in a small town with roughly 300 kids in my school.. the other day a gr9 student was jumped by 2 16 year olds for something he didnt even do and it wasnt anythin to b jumped over anyways. he was knocked out and brought to the hospital. he is feeling a bit better now about 5 days later. the kids who jumped him were supposed to b back in school after a slap on the wrist from the cops so 2 students planned an event to promote change and say we dont want bullies and kids like this in our schools. on november 21 at 10:15 roughly 250 students walked out of there classes to the gym to hav a protest to say this wont b accepted anymore and talked to the principle and vp. i know it wont stop right away but by 250 out of 300 kids showing up it shows people do care and things can get better.

I care ... This should not have happened. My thoughts are with you all and Larry.
